ObjectiveY3 T2 W15 to use the apostrophe to spell shortened forms of words, e.g.don.t, can.t;Y3 T3 W11 to use the apostrophe to spell further contracted forms, e.g.couldn.t Slide 2 Finding Pairs - Match the pairs of words by moving around the screen.Slide 3 - Snowballing - In pairs disucss the correct spelling with Think Partner. Convince the rest of the class/group why their choice is the right choice. Do they need to make alterations to reasoning?Slide 4 - Children use own individual whiteboards and write the contraction. Teacher to use SMART Pen to display responses. Discuss reasons for spelling choices.Slide 5 + 6- Magic Paper - predict the spelling of the contraction and record onto individual whiteboards. Ask children to justify their predictions Pull the word onto white paper to reveal the choice.Slide 7 and 8 - choose a word from slide 7. Which column would the children put the word and why? Continue to add words and discuss reasons why. When words are sorted can the children suggest titles for the sorting grid. Can we add any other words to the grid.
